A NOTE FROM KRISSIE
A few years ago, a stranger asked me “What do you write?” At the time, I fumbled the response, mumbling something along the lines of, “Um…eh…I guess…well…lots of stuff.” That’s because my writing spans a spectrum of subjects and genres, and I was aware I had not chosen a “brand” as the world defines it. In fact, throughout my various experiences in law, teaching, politics, and family life, I’ve written everything from political and humor columns to short stories, poetry, and now even screenplays.
Lately, however, I’ve been thinking about how I would answer that question, and I realized the answer is relatively simple:
I write whatever helps me “choose God.”
You see, I consider my writing not only a God-given gift but also the way I process this life through the lens of my faith. Sometimes that means I write to steward my gift by delving deeper into the craft–trying new genres, experimenting outside my comfort zone–in hopes of drawing closer to Him in the process. Sometimes that means I write to better understand the world and hopefully (or eventually) love a little better because of it. What it doesn’t mean is that what I write today will look exactly like what I write tomorrow…because my writing is part of my journey towards choosing God.
But enough about me.
Thank you for visiting my site, Choosing God. Whether you stumbled here by accident or on purpose, I hope you’ll stick around.:)
